It's time again for more gadgets from the internet.

Here at Kung Fu Drafter we spend a good amount of time on the internet researching and writing. When you spend that kind of time surfing around and looking at all those sites you are bound to see some odd things. These days a disturbing number of those things are USB devices. Long time readers may recall a long past article featuring idiotic USB devices, this is the sequel.

The 1 GB Clothes Pin USB drive ...

Our first gadget is the Clothes Pin USB drive from The Poor Life. From what we can see this started as a conceptual design that is part of a larger collection. On that point we can say that we always enjoy seeing artsy stuff. On the side of usefulness we think this is the most idiotic thing we have ever seen. To justify our criticism it seems that you can actually buy a 1 GB version of these clothes pins from TPL for the tidy little some of 25 Euros ($37.51). Come on, what a rip-off.

5" 2 GB USB Ruler ...

Our next gadget is another USB drive crammed into the physical form factor of something else. Being CAD professionals we have a special place in our heart for rulers, scales and other measuring tools. Having said that we can’t begin to imagine what was going through the minds of these designers. “You know what we need around here? A 5” ruler but one that can store 2 GB of information! You know for those times when you have to measure stuff … and then save it.” If you are actually desperate enough for 2 more gigs of memory space you can get one of these rulers for $29.99. Well at least it’s a better value than the clothes pin drive.

USB hand warming cuddle critters ...

You really have to see our third gadget to believe it. To be fair the idea of keeping your hands warm while working at the computer must appeal to lots of people. While we can see that part of it we just can’t see many people getting past the “so cutesy you could puke” bunny and chibi designs. Oddly enough we are ok with the price on this item, we just wish those wires were better placed. You can get these cuddly little digital warmers from Gadget4All for $22.50. At that price you can probably think of some office pals who would love these. If not, then maybe the heated slippers are more your speed.

So there you have it, another week and another batch of gadgets. We think as long as there is an internet the well of gadgets is bottomless. Unfortunately it seems that a large percentage of those gadgets are idiotic USB monstrosities that should never have seen the light of day. But hey, they are still gadgets so we still dig them …
