Video: Three of our favorite gaming trailers ...

We look at some of our current favorites in game trailers.

Film projectorTime is getting shorter and shorter until we leave for Autodesk University (AU) 2009! Just eight more days and we will be Las Vegas-bound. That is very exciting. Unfortunately, it also means that there are so many things that we have to do before we go. From finishing projects at the office to buying containers that will not get us detained by the Transportation Security Administration we are crazy busy. We apologize for the slowdown in content. Be sure that things will get back to a more regular pace after we return from AU in December. For now, let’s pick some low-hanging fruit and look at some of our current favorites in the world of game trailers.

This week’s first video is the trailer for the Assassin’s Creed 2. This anxiously awaited sequel to the 2007 blockbuster was released just yesterday. We already know of three gamers who have locked themselves away for the weekend to enjoy this fantastical storyline set in 15th Century Italy. Of course, this release date proved to be a mind-bending conflict for one gamer we know who was still addicted to the Modern Warfare 2, released not even two weeks ago. Having seen the gorgeous modeling and artwork, we can’t wait to get our hands on a copy so we can spend some quality PS3 time with this stealthy title.

Our next title is one that we have been anxiously awaiting since we first heard of its development two years ago. Based on the first installment of the epic poem The Divine Comedy, Dante’s Inferno attempts to convert one 14th century poet’s mythical journey to hell into an equally divine game. We’ve been doing our best to keep our head in the sand on this one so we can save all the goodness for those late-night game play sessions. Even though that is the case, we just couldn’t resist viewing the trailer. And were we glad we did! The trailer holds the promise for what is sure to be one of our favorite games of 2010. If you are not theologically sensitive then we recommend you add this title to your GameFly queue for February of next year.

Not everything on our list of favorite trailers is as serious as our first and second videos. Here at Kung Fu Drafter we love to play those games that tickle our “that’s just ridiculous” bone. We love titles like “Ratchet and Clank”, “Rabbids Go Home”, and of course the Super Mario Brothers titles. While it is true that we have liked titles like Mario Kart and Super Paper Mario, it is the traditional 2D, side scrollers that we love. So our readers have to know we just cannot wait to play “Super Mario Bros. Wii”. The limited game play we have been able to get in takes us back to the days of the Nintendo Entertainment System and our childhood. This is one fantastically faithful reincarnation of what started the second golden age of gaming in America.

There is a partial list of our current favorite gaming trailers. All of these titles are going to add up to over 100 hours of gaming goodness for our 2010 schedules and we love it. It seems as if the gamin fairies really have been bringing us treat after treat with the list of great titles that are lined up for the upcoming months. For now, it is a real toss-up whether we are going to be able to wait for Dante’s Inferno or just run out and get Super Mario Bros. Wii before AU! Well maybe if you come up to us at AU and ask we will tell you what we decided. Unless we fake you out. Then I guess that means we will just have to see you in the ninth circle
