CAD+: A Big List of Installation Related Articles from Autodesk ...
We share a collection of recent Autodesk articles regarding installation and licensing.
This first week back at the office has been a very busy one for us here at Kung Fu Drafter. Returning to our day to day duties as a CAD manager is a stark contrast to being at Autodesk University. Instead of running from one session to another from sun-up to sun-down we are bouncing from one project to another. It’s kind of amazing how many things can pile up while you are away from the office.
Everyone needs help eventually ...On that amazingly fast-growing list was a handful of technical support issues. Now technical support is a fairly common occurrence for us here at the Kung Fu Dojo. So handling those small matters for our clients is not a problem. However, over the years we have noticed that a large number of our technical support calls have focused on some form of installation issue. We’ve often thought “Wow, if there were only some collection of information on the installation of these products …” You know, besides the installation notes that come with the products.
Luckily for us Autodesk has been putting out several posts lately on this very topic. So after unpacking we set about sifting through our thousands of RSS articles to collect those precious little posts. Now we are passing this list of technical goodness on to our loyal readers:
- Install and Licensing Training Videos - AutoCAD 2010
- Install and Licensing Training Videos - AutoCAD Map 3D 2010
- License Borrowing and Communication Center Service Pack 1 (Hotfix) - Inventor 2010
- Autodesk Licensing Server Tools 11.5 (Mac OSX) (Video) - Maya 2009
- How to set up a license server on (Windows) (Video) – Maya 2010
- Switch from a Standalone to a Network Install (Mac OSX) (Video) - Maya 2010
- Switch from a Standalone to Network Install (Windows) (Video) - Maya 2010
As you can see, there has been lots of activity going on while we were at Autodesk University.
As always, we recommend that you review accompanying documentation for any hotfixes. There you will find complete information and installation instructions for the download. Also, be sure that you are downloading the correct version of these or any download. Many Autodesk updates and hotfixes are available for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. In the case of videos, watch the full video so you can be familiar with the information before attempting the tasks described.
FYI, we love springrolls ...We’re sure that this list of installation and licensing related articles is going to be very helpful to our readers. Be sure to bookmark this post so you can have it at your fingertips the next time you have a technical support request. You may even be able to get away with just forwarding a link. Think of all the time that will free up! Now you will have time to visit us here at Kung Fu Drafter more often.
Don’t forget to bring a side dish …
