CAD: Our Inventive List of Helpful Articles for AutoCAD Inventor Users ...
To close out the year we load up on the articles featuring information for AutoCAD Inventor users.
Our readers know that here at Kung Fu Drafter technical support calls are a part of everyday life. Of course whether you are supporting external clients or CAD professionals in your own office, tech support is part of life for plenty of CAD managers. For these reasons we are always on the lookout articles and other information to help us be better prepared to help others. Of course, we like to pass this information on to our readers.
As many CAD and IT professionals already know, the installation and licensing of Autodesk products can sometimes be less than straight forward. While the tools packaged with the software work well there always seem to be those little tidbits that can lead the less experienced installer astray. To help ensure that every installation of AutoCAD Inventor 2010 goes smoothly Autodesk has released the following instructional videos:
- Dynamic Licensing - AutoCAD Inventor Professional Suite 2010
- Installation Instructions - Autodesk Inventor Tooling 2010
- Network Installation - AutoCAD Inventor 2010
- Stand-alone installation – AutoCAD Inventor Professional 2010
All of the above great videos can be found on this single Services and Support page.
Of course, getting CAD software installed doesn't mean that the job is done for a CAD manager or IT professional. Once the software is up and running it should be patched with the latest service pack/update and any necessary hotfixes.
Recently Autodesk has released Service Pack 2 for the AutoCAD Inventor 2010 family of products. This service pack will address over 40 issues designated in Customer Error Reports and Autodesk newsgroups. Users of all the following AutoCAD Inventor packages will be able to benefit from this service pack:
- AutoCAD Inventor Professional Suite 2010
- AutoCAD Inventor Routed Systems Suite 2010
- AutoCAD Inventor Simulation Suite 2010
- AutoCAD Inventor Suite 2010
- AutoCAD Inventor Tooling Suite 2010
- Autodesk Inventor 2010
Autodesk Inventor View 2010 users will not be able to apply the above service pack but instead have their very own Service Pack 2. Unfortunately the ReadMe webpage does not go into detail as to what issues are resolved with Service Pack 2.
As always, we recommend that you review accompanying documentation for any service pack or update. There you will find complete information and installation instructions and prerequisites for the download. Also, be sure that you are downloading the correct version of these or any download. Many Autodesk service packs and hotfixes are available for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. In the case of videos, watch the full video so you can be familiar with the information before attempting the tasks described.
Lastly we would like to direct you to a series of instructional videos for AutoCAD Inventor users. Lately the Autodesk RSS manufacturing feed has been delivering a 4-part series of videos from the Manufacturing Community site. These fantastic videos are being hosted at the “JustinHoey’s Channel” YouTube channel. If you are not familiar with this fantastic resource you should definitely visit the channel. There you will find a growing number (currently 25) of videos exploring and illustrating the different aspects of the AutoCAD Inventor family of products. This is a definite page to bookmark!
So that is our AutoCAD Inventor catch-up post for 2009. We plan to spend these last few days of the year catching up on the huge pile of articles, tutorials and video posts that we have let slide for too long. Yeah we are bad people but hey, everyone needs some time off sooner or later. We are hoping that we get more time off in 2010 with good behavior …
