CAD: Hot New Hotfixes for Raster Design 2010 ...
Readers may recall our reporting a conflict between the network and standalone versions of Raster Design 2010. This conflict was causing users who were mixing license types to find the software was incompatible. Needless to say this was causing quite the uproar around the old CAD water cooler.
That was back at the end of April 2009. Just over one month later Autodesk released the first Hotfix for Raster Design 2010. According to the ReadMe file this hotfix will allow networked licenses of Raster Design 2010 to be installed with standalone AutoCAD applications. In addition to correcting that nasty little licensing bug, the Raster Design 2010 Hotfix also addresses another matter. Civil 3D users will find increased stability when using Raster Design 2010 features.
Now for the bad news: The licensing situation is not 100% resolved. Users will still not be able to install Raster Design 2010 standalone licenses with networked AutoCAD product licenses.
In addition to the licensing hotfix Autodesk has also released another hotfix for Raster Design 2010. Due to a conflict with some anti-virus applications some users have been experiencing crashes when starting Raster Design. Other users have also experience application crashes while editing text on workstations with Raster Design 2010 installed. Autodesk's June 19th release of a startup hotfix should resolve these issues for afflicted users. Please be sure to read all associated page text for special notes concerning AutoCAD LT as well as Revit and Inventor suites.
As always be sure to read the associated ReadMe.txt file for full information on the hotfix and installation instructions. Below are the links to the various files needed for the hotfix installation:

Other very useful information in the world of Raster Design appeared at one of our favorite blogs recently. Justin Ziemba recently posted on the Being Civil blog a solution to install Raster Design 2010 on workstations running 64-bit operating systems. Be sure to read the full post at Being Civil and closely follow the instructions and before you know it you will be up and running in at 64-bit speeds!
We hope that all of our readers who use Raster Design will get good use out of these tidbits. Unfortunately they are all a couple of weeks old because we are behind schedule. Well nothing is ever really perfect ...
