Geek: One in a Million Chance for $100k Game Design Prize ...

If there is one thing our readers will know from previous posts that we here at Kung Fu Drafter are big fans of games. Whether we are talking about video games, board games and/or pen and paper games we are there with snacks and strategies. As far as video games go we love them all and have long since drawn a positive conclusion between CAD and video games. But that is a matter for another post.

This post is all about an amazing new competition. In fact, it is a game design competition being held by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. Yesterday, G4 TV’s X-Play reported that the AIAS along with Gamestop and The Guildhall at Southern Methodist University have combined forces to host the Indie Game Challenge. The prizes?

“The Challenge is designed to be the preeminent competition for video game developers by offering winners almost $300,000 in prize monies and scholarships, including $100,000 grand prize awards for both the winning professional and non-professional games. In addition, finalists will receive national exposure and be eligible for additional prize money by having their pitch videos posted on GameStop.com and GameStop TV for People’s Choice Award voting.”

If you have ever dreamed of becoming a game designer or have already done some ground work on an indie title be sure you check out the site and enter! But work fast, game betas and pitch videos must be submitted by October 1, 2009. And remember, with hard work and a little belief in yourself one day your kung fu will be as great as our own ...
