Geek: Bowling Over Nintendo Fans with Accessories ...

Recently we wrote a post (a very long post) all about the state of videogame console controllers. Readers may recall that we discussed Sony’s motion controller prototype, Microsoft’s Project Natal and Nintendo’s Demo Mode. While it was a nifty little post (if we do say so) we couldn’t help but feel that maybe, just maybe, we cheated a little by adding Nintendo’s Demo Mode since it wasn’t really a controller per se. But we here at Kung Fu Drafter never say never. So we would like to share with you the Wi-BOWL.

Yes, you read it right. There is now a bowling ball controller for the Nintendo Wii.

According to the product listing at CTA Digital the controller opens and the Wii Remote is inserted, and presumably attached to a cable. It seems that this odd little contraption even accommodates the new Wii Motion Plus accessory. So I suppose that is an accessory for the accessory. Or maybe the bowling ball is the accessory’s accessory. It’s really all quite complicated.

While it seems that the official price and release date have not determined yet, a list of compatible games is available including Wii Sports, Ten Pin Alley and others. Also available is the list of goodies that come in the box. That, of course, being the bowling ball and a set of finger hole plugs and some sort of wrist strap. The last one is our guess from the photo.

While we can’t imagine actually buying, let alone using, one of these it’s got to be a must have for every bowling enthusiast. Especially when you combine this little bit of something with the precision of the Wii Motion Plus. That combination is going to provide some pretty realistic difficulties for bowling schlubs like us. But it’s going to be a dream come true for the bowling endowed. Just be sure you don’t let go of this freaking thing in all the excitement ...
