CAD: Goodies for Users of Autodesk Inventor Products ...
We've got two hotfixes and a service pack for Inventor users.
When you are a hard working CAD professional it can sometimes be difficult to keep up with the latest news. Who can blame you? As if dealing with redlines, designers, clients, hardware issues and budgets were not enough, the motivated CAD professionals has to go further. They must keep an ear to the ground for the latest tips and updates also! Kung Fu Drafter is here to help our CAD professional readers who are users of the Autodesk Inventor 2010 family of products.
This week we have a service pack and some hotfixes for our readers to improve their CAD experiences. That is right; we do the work so you don’t have to. All of these goodies are applicable to the Autodesk Inventor family of products. That list of products includes the following:
- Autodesk Inventor 2010
- AutoCAD Inventor Suite 2010
- AutoCAD Inventor Professional Suite 2010
- AutoCAD Inventor Routed Systems Suite 2010
- AutoCAD Inventor Simulation Suite 2010
- AutoCAD Inventor Tooling Suite 2010
First, we have Service Pack 2 for Autodesk Inventor 2010. This service pack is available for users who have installed the subscription bonus pack and those who have not. Autodesk has developed Service Pack 2 to supplement Service Pack 1, so users will want to be sure to have Service Pack 1 installed before installing Service Pack 2. Once SP2 is installed, Autodesk Inventor users are going to be able to enjoy some great benefits. From technical issues identified from customer service reports to improved features, users are going to find a good deal to enjoy in Service Pack 2.
In addition to Service Pack 2, we also have some two new hotfixes for the Autodesk Inventor family of products. The first hotfix will address flat pattern user parameters that will not update into custom parameters. The second hotfix will address users who need set a different unit as “cm” for sheet metal properties. These hotfixes have been designed to address these specific issues. The ReadMe files from Autodesk suggest that the hotfix “only be applied to systems directly affected by the issue described.” This tells us first that if you are not experiencing this error, do not install the hotfix (duh). Also, be sure to follow the best practice of applying these hotfixes at the workstation level and not through network deployment.
As always, we recommend that you read the accompanying ReadMe file for these hotfixes and Service Pack 2. There you will find complete installation information for the download. Also, be sure that you are downloading the correct version of these or any download. Whether you are installing Service Pack 2 or the hotfixes, if you have not installed Service Pack 1, download and install it first.
Since Autodesk Inventor is not one of the applications we use regularly here at Kung Fu Drafter, we cannot comment on the improvements these downloads deliver. If you are a user of any of the Autodesk Inventor products and you install any of these downloads let us know what you think. Leave us a comment below and tell us how much all of this has improved your life. Of course, we are assuming that these will be life-altering experiences …
