AU: Thinking About Speaking? So Are We ...

Spring is almost in the air and we are thinking of submitting an Autodesk University proposal.

Well 2010 is here to stay. Oh sure, we can all pretend that the new year is just a passing fad while it is still January. Now that February is nearly over there is no use in lying to ourselves anymore. That means that the time has come to start writing the correct date on checks, buy new calendars and begin thinking about Autodesk University 2010!

Here at Kung Fu Drafter we have been putting thought into submitting a session proposal to the dark overlords that organize Autodesk University every year. For years, we have dreamt of taking this leap. Then last year, while at AU 2009, we had the good fortune of meeting some great instructors from COINS and Autodesk. These people were so down to earth and encouraging that we were motivated to speak at AU ourselves.

Well we were motivated to commit to submitting a proposal. Well we were motivated to think really hard about being motivated to submit a proposal. Sort of. Ok so the fact is that we are terrified to do it! However, scared as we are of being rejected, laughed at and dragged through the streets for fellow CAD professionals to throw rocks and old sets of plans at us, we are working on an outline.

Now we aren’t going to tell you what our great idea is until we are accepted or rejected. But if you are submitting a proposal we would love to hear from you! We would especially love to hear from first time submitters, like we are. Let us know what motivated you, what you hope for and what you think you will get out of speaking. As always we love to hear from our readers. If it just so happens that we find out we are not the only hopeful neurotic CAD professionals out there …

I'll be submitting again. Not sure if I'm rooting to be rejected three years in a row or breaking my two year rejection streak.

Hmm, seems to me like being rejected wouldn't be near as terrifying as being accepted! Hahahaha! What's that saying? Careful what you wish for?

Seriously, good luck guys!
