Videos: Three Videos Chocked Full of Crazy ...

We have three kinetic typography videos based on some of our favorite movies.

Our readers know that here at Kung Fu Drafter we love online videos. Of course, they also know that it has been far too long since we have had a video post! Well we aim to rectify that right now and combine a recent fascination all into one post. In the words of Earl: “I think they call that multitasking”. Whether it is multitasking or not we are combining our love of Kinetic Typography with our theme of “crazy" for this week’s video post.

Some readers may be asking why we chose a theme like “crazy”. Those would probably not be long-time readers because they know we love crazy people and movies. One of our favorite movies about a crazy person is 2005’s “V for Vendetta”. Hugo Weaving’s performance and the over-the-top mask-wearing vigilante captured the kind of insanity that makes for great movies. This typography video captures what is probably our favorite scene. It also makes a pretty good tongue twister.

While V was quite mad, another of our favorite movies is “12 Monkeys” with Bruce Willis. Willis plays a time traveling man that may or may not be crazy. But he probably was. Maybe. What is important is that through the course of the movie he runs into a character that is clearly nuts played by Brad Pitt. Pitt’s character is not just nuts, he is deliciously insane. Now we can enjoy the insanity in the form of moving words.

Of course, any collection of Kinetic Typography, based on movies, and videos grouped together by the theme of "crazy" is not complete without the ultimate crazy fictional character. In fact this single crazy character has permeated more levels of pop cultural than perhaps any other. We are talking, of course, about The Joker. From comics to games to books The Joker has been the icon of crazy for decades. This animation uses audio from Heath Ledger's Joker from The Dark Knight.

So there you have it. Three of our favorite movies about crazy people paired with three of our new favorite kinetic typography animations. We hope that you are as impressed and entertained by these kinetic typography videos as we were. In fact, we could even say that we have been motivated to try our own hand at creating one of these nifty animations. We would have to theme our animation world domination. Of course, that is just us. Leave us a comment and let us know what kind of animation you would create. Until then here is one last video about a phone booth. A crazy phone booth …
