One of the things that we love here at Kung Fu Drafter is good service. In fact, we love good service, but who doesn’t? I think we all appreciate when we feel that we receive a good value and continued service when we make a purchase. That is precisely how we feel about our Autodesk products. Over all the years that we have been using AutoCAD and other Autodesk products, we have always gotten excellent service. This week Autodesk released several bunches of goodies for users.
For AutoCAD Inventor 2010 users Autodesk release Service Pack 3. Service Pack 3 is a very comprehensive package with numerous improvements. The improvements in the ReadMe file is really too long to list. However, some of the most improved tools include the Drawing Manager, support for Direct3D graphic cards, and Vault support. Service Pack 3 is available for AutoCAD Inventor 2010 workstations that have the Subscription Advantage Pack installed and those that do not. Users will need to have already installed Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2 before applying Service Pack 3. This latest service pack is intended for use with the following products:
- AutoCAD Inventor Professional Suite 2010
- AutoCAD Inventor Routed Systems Suite 2010
- AutoCAD Inventor Simulation Suite 2010
- AutoCAD Inventor Suite 2010
- AutoCAD Inventor Tooling Suite 2010
- Autodesk Inventor 2010
AutoCAD 2010 users have an update of their own with Update 2. Workstations with AutoCAD 2010 installed can apply Update 2 without first installing Update 1. Areas of improvement in Update 2 include Data Extraction, Etransmit, and Image support. Be sure to check out the ReadMe file for the full list of improvements and installation instructions.
For those lucky users that have already upgraded to AutoCAD 2011 and AutoCAD LT 2011 Autodesk has the CHM-Based Help for download. Many users have reported less than satisfactory performance with AutoCAD’s new Online Help infrastructure. While Autodesk works on remedying this issue, they have released the Compiled HTML as a temporary fix. Autodesk reports that once the complications with the Online Help for AutoCAD 2011 and AutoCAD LT 2011 are solved that the final fix will be a seamless one. Be sure follow the instructions on the Services & Support page when installing the CHM-Based Help.
As always, we recommend that you read the accompanying ReadMe file for any updates, service packs, or hotfixes. There you will find complete information and installation for the download. Also, be sure that you are downloading the correct version of these or any download. Many Autodesk updates, service packs, and hotfixes are available for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the applicable software. If you keep these simple rules in mind, your update process will be a success …
