Autodesk University 2013 is just two days away and I am already on the move.
That’s right, it is that time of the year again when the CAD world turns its collective attention to Las Vegas and BIM, CAD and other design professionals begin their annual migration to Autodesk University. The word is that this year attendance is set to surpass last year with over 9,000 CAD and design professionals attending from around the world. Of course, we never know what the final number is until the whole shebang is over, but if it is even close to that then that is a whole mess of geeks in one place.
Currently I am sitting on a United Airlines flight and the air is a bit rough, but that is ok. In just a few hours I plan to be luxuriating in my room at the Polazzo Hotel. If I recall correctly, the rooms are quite nice and well appointed. But the old memory isn’t what it used to be, so we will see.
I hope that everyone making the trip today and tomorrow has safe, and somewhat smoother, travels. Remember to leave early to avoid crowds at the security gate. Also, comfortable shoes. If you have any doubts about the comfort of your footwear run out now and get something comfy. Personally I recommend Rockport shoes (hint hint Rockport, let’s get some sponsorship checks in here!) and good socks.
If you want a pro tip, and you are a man, try slapping on two pairs of socks. Don’t ask me why, but it really helps with the blisters. And there will be as more blisters at AU 2013 than there will be people, trust me!
If you are on your way to AU, I hope to see you all. Sorry, this year I am swag-free, but stop and say hi anyways. I have a secret that I am unveiling at AU, so we will see how that goes. Whatever the next week brings I am sure that there will be lots of great sessions, great friends and great times, in general.
As for right now, I am packing my nifty new little laptop away and going to let this rocky plane lull me to sleep. I almost fear sorry for my seat neighbors who will have to suffermy possible snoring …
