CAD: Autodesk Releases Updates for Architecture, MEP, and Navisworks ...

Autodesk releases updates for Architecture, MEP, and Navisworks.

If there is one thing Americans love, it’s big days. Super Bowl Sunday, Black Friday, and Chinese food buffet Tuesdays are just a few of our favorites here at Kung Fu Drafter. Autodesk had one big day this past Monday. When it comes to releasing updates for their software Autodesk is big into firing all three barrels at once. So on the September 14th they didn’t just release two updates or four updates but three CAD software updates all at once!

AutoCAD Architecture 2010 ...First on the list Autodesk has Update 1 for the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of AutoCAD Architecture 2010. AutoCAD Architecture, the version of AutoCAD designed specifically for architectural design and drafting, already comes packed with special tools and templates to help CAD professionals. With Update 1 these users are going to enjoy improvements such as:

  • AEC dimensioning corrections
  • Improved dynamic UCS performance
  • Improved external referencing
  • Improved sorting of schedule tables
  • Layering tool corrections

AutoCAD MEP 2010 ...

Next in this bag of hat tricks of CAD updates is Update 1 for Autodesk’s version of AutoCAD for building systems design, AutoCAD MEP 2010. Used around the world, AutoCAD MEP 2010 has tools specially designed for use by mechanical, electrical, and plumbing designers and drafters. Installation of Update 1 will introduce:

  • Copy to clipboard errors resolved
  • Crashes related to electrical tools resolved
  • Improved graphic performance
  • Improved layering performance with piping tools
  • Improved tools for ductwork

Autodesk Navisworks 2010 ...

Last, but certainly not least, comes Autodesk Navisworks 2010’s Service Pack 1. Widely used to model and synchronize building and plant design, Autodesk Navisworks 2010 family of products is a premiere set of visualization tools. Service Pack 1 applies to users of all Navisworks products including Freedom 2010, Manage 2010, Review2010, and Simulate 2010. Some of the improvements and corrections made by Service Pack 1 to these CAD applications include:

  • Improved clash detection
  • Improved interoperability for AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and Autodesk Revit Architecture
  • Improved hyperlinks and smart tag performance

That is one big handful of improvements to a pretty good group of CAD applications. If you use any, or all, of these programs be sure to visit the download pages and get the correct version of update or service pack in question. Be sure you check to see if you need the 32-bit or 64-bit download! As always we recommend that you read the accompanying Readme.txt file for your particular service pack download, except for Navisworks’ Service Pack 1. For some reason the Readme file is a .CHM format. No worries though, just double click and you will be able to view the details of the service pack in a normal help file window. Be sure to leave us a comment below and let us know what you think of these updates ...
